Reincarnation
Japanese director Takashi Shimizu creates another mind-blowing addition to the J-horror genre. Although I may not have cared for Ju-on (2002)--later remade with American actors in The Grudge (2004)--Shimizu's Reincarnation is a tightly-woven story that unravels perfectly. More »

Who Is Kikaida?
Rated 5.0 Stars
Ask any person who was in Hawaii during the 1970's, "Have you ever heard of Kikaida?" And the answer will probably be a resounding, "Oooh yeah. He was HUGE in Hawaii... like American Idol huge. Maybe even bigger?" More »

Hard Candy
Rarely do movies have only two actors. In Before Sunrise (1995), the audience follows two characters as they meet and fall in love. The characters in Hard Candy do exactly the opposite - they try to kill each other. True, it is extremely difficult to interest an audience with only two actors on screen, but the story, acting and directing was so incredibly mesmerizing, it didn't even feel like I was watching a film. Surf's Up (2007)
Even though audiences have had their fill of penguin movies in the past few years - Happy Feet (2006) and March of the Penguins (2005) - Surf's Up is still a great one to watch. It's more than just a story about penguins, it genuinely has an inspirational message for kids and adults alike. You learn that friends and having fun are more important than winning. More »

Fred Claus
After Wedding Crashers (2005), director David Dobkin and Vince Vaughn rejoin in this early holiday, family-fest movie. But unlike the crazy success of Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus is a simple and predictable story. As long as your expectations are low, I'd recommend this movie. More »

Zodiac (2007)
Weeks after watching Zodiac, the story still stayed with me. I picture certain scenes, replay certain lines in my head. This film, much like the Zodiac Killer himself, is haunting. So many clues are left unexplained that in the end, there is no real closure. But this story reflects much of reality -- endless murder cases go unsolved every day in the world. The Zodiac Killer is just one of many unsolved cases, and just one of many cases that will never truly "close." More »

Superman Returns
Is Brandon Routh convincing as the new Superman? After nearly thirty years since Richard Donner's original Superman movie in 1978, director Bryan Singer attempts to revive the first superhero that hit theatres. Of course, Singer had two different audiences to please: the young audience that expected great special effects and entertaining characters, and the audience that grew up with the super hero and anticipated a film just as great as when Christopher Reeve played Superman. 10,000 B.C.
Rated 5.0 Stars
If 10,000 B.C. was marketed as a fantasy adventure, maybe critics and audiences alike would have not been so disappointed. But with the expectation that this was a dramatic action adventure film, the historical inaccuracies and generic story line left me deceived and unsatisfied. More »

Scoop
From deadly serious Match Point (2005) to light comedic Scoop, director Woody Allen brings yet another original story to theatres. Unlike many directors, Allen has tackled several different genres through his directing career, always trying to do something new. Despite some of his work not receiving as much praise as others, Allen should be given credit for his creative, bold and witty stories. More »

Ocean's Thirteen
Once again, Ocean's gang proves they can outsmart anyone and still look cool at the same time. While their membership count is gradually increasing, the group remains a tightly-knit team. Simply put, Ocean's Thirteen - and all the other Ocean films for that matter - is fun to watch. More »
