Aloha and Welcome to the Road Runner Interactive Webinar Chat Room! dave: I live in an apartment building (royal capitol plaza) that has window type air condition units that does not protrude out the window. dave: Is it possible to buy a split level type air condition unit and place the compressor at the window? Or are there other types of air condition units with compressors suitable for installation in my apartment? dan: Amv Air How do you measure humidity? setst: what is the difference between a split ac and a regular ac unit (besides the cost) waikele: Amv - Can you just vaccum the filters? dan: amv- how much of the air contaminants are destroyed by the Uv lights??? setst: amv: how often should we have a/c checked or cleaned? Big_J: what does Btu stand for?????????? Big_J: hello?????????? Ed: when there's a break in the action, they'll get to your question Big_j Big_J: what does Seer mean and how dow it effect my electrity bill?? waikele: Amv - What is the cost to have unit (mitsubishi Mr. Slim) professionally serviced? Big_J: depends of what needs to be done to you unint Big_J: unit* waikele: Just maintenance. Like taking it apart and cleaning the mold. Big_J: how old is the unit?? waikele: Three years. Big_J: no that much Big_J: ehhh Al never answer my question Big_J: dallas Big_J: ask him what Seer means and how it affects my electric bill Big_J: pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee Jeremy_B: Amv - Is there a minimum square foot required by the Unico system I have 700 sq ft townhouse? dan: there we go big J Ed: way to go Big_j! Big_J: ahhh tanks Big_J: not dallas me dan: dont forget Al and Dallas will stay for 30 min after the video portion of our program to answer any questions!!! Jeremy_B: ok nathan: Is there a simple formula to determine the right btu to square feet? Jeremy_B: Amv - Is there a minimum square foot required by the Unico system I have 700 sq ft townhouse? Big_J: ok what is ambient air and how can it affect mold growth???? waikele: Al, what is the cost to professionally have my Mitsubishi Mr. Slim units cleaned? I noticed some black foam stuff coming out of it. Is that mold?! AMVAir: Jeremy, The minimum square foot is 400 square ft please call me tomorrow to go over more details.. Jeremy_B: ok Jeremy_B: thanks AMVAir: nathan, the btu per square foot will be determined by the construction method of your home. Insulation factors has be taken into consideration. Call me tomorrow for further discussion. Big_J: u there? Big_J: whats ambient air?? and how can that be a cause of mold growth??? AMVAir: waikele, our hourly rates are based on $80 per hour, two man is needed if we have to do a complete cleaning of your system. like taking the indoor unit apart. Big_J: Amv is good at servicing Big_J: they did my units waikele: So would that be $80 per hour for each man? AMVAir: Big J, higher ambient conditions will control mold growth due to it ability to feed of the wetness in the air. Big_J: ahhh i see Big_J: wetness huh Rob: Amv, are portable A/c units worth the money you pay when you only plan to use them around 10 times a year? Big_J: portables suck Big_J: fujitsu splits numbah one Jeremy_B: unico high velosity miniduct #1 nathan: What would be cheaper on a monthly basis, 3 small room units or a larger outdoor unit? Big_J: unico sucks Ed: Big_j: please refrain from asking non-ac questions for now... wanna be sure that everyone gets their questions answered... Mahalo! Big_J: nah just joking waikele: Al, you didn't get to cleaning/maintaing the white plastic piping (I think you called it the P trap)? How do you maintenance that? AMVAir: Waikele, yes it is mold and you want to call my assistant Nikki tomorrow to immediately set up your service. You need to request the service be done by two technicians. Thanks. Jeremy_B: velocity Big_J: tell them type fast waikele: Ok. Thank you. Big_J: Al what do you recomend split type or central ducted type?? AMVAir: Nathan it would be better to review the total design of your system to accurately make this determination I can go over this with you better in person or on the phone Ed: (question from email): Should I replace my House A/c unit's refrigerant with the new 22A Environ-safe refrigerant AMVAir: dan, we are in the sand island access road area near the airport AMVAir: waikele, I am sorry ran out of time. Use diluted bleach or even just a capful of bleach to keep this algae free. Hope it helps. waikele: Thanks! Rob: Amv, are portable A/c units worth the money you pay when you only plan to use them around 10 times a year? AMVAir: rob, portable units are not the best of systems to use period. they do tend to leak after a while no matter how much you service it.... waikele: Sorry I missed it, but why did you say you shouldn't clean the filters in your sink? RR-Ed: (question from email): how do I get the old refrigerant out before I put the new stuff in if I'm changing refrigerant (EPA rules don't allow mixing)? AMVAir: waikele, it has a lot of dust that you don't want clogging your p trap under the sink waikele: Ohhh. Thanks. Rob: Thanks Amv, a follow up question for you. Since I do not beleive I need a split type system for my limited use, do you install Inwall A/c units? If so, what would the average installation charge be? AMVAir: Rr-ed you are right, we can't mix them so we actually need to change out the system and piping because the lubricants of the old system cannot mix with the new system. it can turn to candle wax. future technology will allow system to be mixed for now it is only on a limited amount of unit. Mitsubishi for instance. RR-Ed: (question from email): is it possible to buy a split level type air condition unit and place the compressor at the window? or are there other types of air condition units with compressors suitable for installation in my apartment? waikele: Great Webinar. Your company did a great job installing all of our split systems in our home and we've been enjoying them. Thanks for your time. Aloha. Big_J: when is the next Webinar?????????????? AMVAir: Rr-ed, every installation application is going to be governed by your community association. pose your question to them and see what the limitations are AMVAir: Big James, I will let you know when.... nathan: I've seen wall/window units are "energy efficient" does that mean that they cost less to run? AMVAir: Waikele I appreciate your comments and your business. thanks Big_J: thank you handsome Big_J: thank you too Dallas Big_J: and Ed AMVAir: alona Big J... AMVAir: nathan, there is a limitation to their efficiency mainly because of their design. if you plan on installing a window unit install at a higher level so it removes the heat the rises rather than cooling off the floor. great question.. AMVAir: I would like to thank everyone for attending this webinar and making it a successful first run. nathan: Thanks! Really informative and apprecitate the Q&a. Hope to give you a call when I get some money saved up. I think I need to tend to the roof first. AMVAir: nathan we will be here when you need us...
