Oceanic Time Warner Cable's Road Runner and Manoa Valley Theatre are proud to present the first ever Tweetup and Facebook Night at Hair, the acclaimed rock musical, on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 8 p.m. For one night only, Manoa Valley Theatre will lift its ban on digital gadgets during the show and invite the audience to post, blog and tweet to their heart's content throughout the live performance. The audience can visit
www.facebook.com/OceanicCable or
twitter.com/oceaniccable for Facebook and Twitter updates. In addition, the hashtag #hawaiihair will also be used for Twitter searches of the event.
The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, Hair is a timeless portrait of a movement that changed the world. The 1968 Broadway hit blazed a new trail in musical theatre by defining the genre of the "rock musical." Its groundbreaking rock score features some of the greatest songs ever written for the stage; several of which become Top 40 hits and anthems of the anti-war movement. The show was revived on Broadway to acclaim in 2009. The jubilant production is a celebration of life, a love letter to freedom, and a passionate cry for hope and change.
"The Tweetup and Facebook Night at Manoa Valley Theatre should be a "hair-raising" experience, with the audience encouraged to share their experience live during the performance," said Jon Brekke, Oceanic's Creative Director. "We're confident theatre-goers are going to have fun with it, and to our knowledge, this will be the first of its kind at theatres here in Hawaii."
