VIEW 100'S OF PANORAMIC IMAGES AT RESOURCE4HAWAII's HAWAII TRAVEL GUIDE

Expansive stretches of romantic secluded beaches, rainbows and waterfalls, surfers of every persuasion, lush tropical jungles backed by green mountain cliffs, luaus with hula girls, native drummers, poi and imu pig... shave ice, fragrant plumeria leis, pineapples, mangos and bananas... ecstatic sunsets blazing across the sky... These are some of the images and concepts conjured up when I think of Hawaii, a magical place... or rather an alternate reality.

The little town of Hanalei on Kauai's north shore has all this and more, with a pace reminiscent of Hawaii's simpler past. This July has been an unusually wet month, with early-morning rainstorms and small cloudbursts as the moist ocean air passes over the cooler pali. So as a result, we have focused our cameras on Hanalei's bright and plentiful rainbows. Please enjoy these gaudy little gifts of nature.
