My family LOVES Acai bowls-we make them almost everyday. It's such a healthy and refreshing snack.
Oooh! What's your recipe leeloyp? :)
I really like the Jamba Juice flavah.. Never tried the bowls yet.. I may try it this weekend lol. :) Thanks for the Acai info... I still need to learn how to say it proper lol.. Was in Jamba Juice and said I want to order that ---> the photo which you have above... lol
Haha! No kidding yeah KoloheBoy!? The first time I said "ah-kai" cup and da laydeh corrected me. LOL!
You need the acai frozen packs (we purchase from a distributor in Honolulu). 2 frozen acai packs, 10-12 frozen strawberries, 2-4 frozen bananas, 2 handfuls of frozen blueberries, 1/2 to 1 cup of soy milk processed in a blender, when done in a bowl sprinkle granola, spoon in your acai mixture, add fresh fruits on top (just like the one pictured in the article), sprinkle a little more granola and top with honey. Enjoy.
its getting so expensive to buy from jamba juice everyday. who distributes? mahalo!
Mahalos planny leeloyp! Me da leydeh wanted to try it one of these days... And yeah mommyof4! That's a good question! :)
Yum - acai bowls are my best breakfast fix, especially now when the weather is hot and humid! Also try the ones at Vita Juice on Fort Street Mall (granola topping is outstanding) - and at the new downtown Umeke Market. Both are right around the $6 mark. Diamond Head Cove is busy, but they make the best, ono acai bowls!
Shucks! I was just there (Fort Street Mall) the other morning. Hard for me to get out to downtown during the week, but I gotta go try um next time I get out there! Mahalos for the tip melo!
I just wanna say that our demand for acai has made it so expensive for the native people of that region of Brazil who originally enjoyed it, that they can no longer afford to eat their traditional berry even though they are doing all the work to harvest it. We get enough anti oxidants in Hawaii anyway, let them have their acai. All fruits and vegetables have antioxidants and here everybody has fruits and maybe vegs in their backyard. If you don't, shame on you! Time to jump on another bandwagon...LOCAL GROWN.
I read somewhere that any Acai outside of Brazil is frozen as it doesn't keep for more than two days, so yeah, my dream one day is to go to Brazil to have a bowl fresh. That and learn some Brazilian jiu jitsu from the masters. :)
HEY THE JEWEL OR JUICE IS GOOD STUFF. WATCH OUT FOR THAT GINGER ZING GRANOLA SOME OF THEM TRY TO SNEAK IN. IT REALLY TURNED ME OFF IF NOT EXPECTING IT. AND WITH THE PROBLEMS OF KAIMUKI PARKING YOU WILL PROB HAVE TO WALK ALITTLE FROM THE BACK LOTS. DONT TRY THE LOADING ZONE THING AND "THINK I WILL BE RIGHT BACK" THOSE METER READERS ARE FRICKEN FAST TO ATTACK YOUR CAR LIKE BIRDS ON A WIRE ABOVE A WASHED CAR
Mahaloz for the tips 808WATER! I still have them on my hitlist so it'll come in handy! :)
Hey...I haven't tried any acai bowls yet. But everyone has raved about the one my friend sells in her shop. It's Mocha Java at Ward Center! Everyone who has tried theirs say they won't eat any other anymore...because theirs is the best and probably cost the most...between $8 and $9.
Shucks Kanani77 ! I was just there (Ward). Wrapping up Part II already, but perhaps I can include them in a future article? Thanks for the feedback!
