
Q) Do the people at the check in table hold onto the gifts until the end of the reception to be transferred later to the hotel safe (envelopes) and room (gifts), or are they transferred when the reception table closes?
A) The gifts are normally either moved into the ballroom on a table, or taken up to your suite by a bell hop, accompanied by one of your registration table workers. The envelopes are transferred into manila envelopes either provided by the hotel or your own (I would bring 3 large ones to be safe). Mark your name on the 3 manila envelopes and have your banquet captain and one of your registration table workers walk it to the safe together. At most hotels, you will need to have a safe form filled out in advance. Normally, you will have on other person designated on the safe form as the person assigned to "check in" the envelopes. Then, you will be the only one who can sign the envelopes out the next day or later that evening.
