HELP ME WITH RATINGS
Canon xtiIt's June, The time for Dad's, Grad's and Brides. A celebration of life, achievements and new beginnings. Traditionally it is a big month for gift giving and picture taking too. What better time to combine these two into an article about the camera's that will not only be recording these events but likely be given as gifts as well.

It has been a while since we reviewed the digital camera's out there and there are some great ones. First we are going to talk about dad's. The gadget guru of the household. Cameras for this guy need to be big, shiny and have lots of cool things that dad can tinker with. Expect to spend a little more on the camera for dad because of this however, there are some deals out there if you are looking.

We believe that in these tighter economic times dad will be happy with a great camera that doesn't bust the budget. We are highlighting the Nikon D60 a 10.2 megapixel and the Canon Digital Rebel XSi, a 12.2 megapixel camera. Both of these cameras are great mid range cameras that produce stunning images for entry prices between $700 & $899. ThinNikon D60gs that you will want to consider when purchasing the camera for dad, beyond price, are the gadgets. Nikon and Canon are both well known for their quality products and the gadgets that go with them. Of course if dad already has a Canon or a Nikon or any other Dslr style system, you will want to stay in the same family of cameras. He is first of all, used to that style of camera and secondly may have equipment that will work with his new toy.

You really can't go wrong with either of these great cameras. Both the Canon and the Nikon have an ISO scale that goes up to 1600, fast frame rates and processing times for images as well as a host of other features. We recommend that you review these and all your cameras before you purchase. A great resource for comparing the pricing and features on these gadget laden daddy toys is www.dpreview.com . A camera for dad isn't just a great gift, it's the gift that keeps on giving. With such a wide range of added things to get for dad once he has a camera, you could have your gift giving list completed for the next few holidays with no problem.

For the Graduate in your life, you might consider the Nikon D40x or the Canon Xti. While more inexpensive models than our "dad" Nikon s550suggestions, these cameras still pack a punch for what you pay. You will find these beauties in kit form on eBay for under $500 in most cases and well worth the money. The both offer a 10 mega pixel image and are a great first camera for anyone starting off on their own. Both have a 1600 ISO maximum and both offer interchangeable lenses and external flash unit additions. They are small, lightweight and easily portable, your college student or new career bound student will love these offerings.

Finally for brides, they generally spend their time on their wedding day in front of the camera. If however they have a small pocket wonder as an early wedding gift, they can add an interesting perspective on the wedding day. Check this out, one of the smallest pocket cameras on the market today. The Nikon S550 with 10 megapixel power and under $200. You can also look into the Casio Exlim As with all camera purchases, look for kit deals that can save you hundreds on the overall purchase. Any way you go with your gift giving, this family oriented gift is one that will keep on giving. SMILE you might just be in one of those pictures. - Aloha
