The ideal cut round diamond was the first to exhibit exceptional brilliance and sparkle and it was just a matter of time before it became a standard for those consumers wanting the most beautiful diamond. And yet there were people that were still left wanting. They wanted the brilliance and sparkle but in a different shape. Great news! All of you that have been waiting for a diamond that is as brilliant as a round ideal cut diamond but in a different shape, rejoice the Square Hearts and Arrows diamond is here! While it may not be the first to reflect as much light in a shape other than a round ideal it is one of the best. Other remarkably brilliant non-round diamonds include the FireMark® Princess cut diamond previously featured in an earlier article.

The Square Hearts and Arrows diamond is an absolutely beautiful, brilliant diamond. It is a square diamond with soft rounded corners. Aside from being more appealing in shape to some people it is more durable and less prone to chipping than normal Princess cut diamonds whose corners are the most fragile areas. The Square Hearts and Arrows soft cushion like shape lends itself very nicely into today’s popular vintage designs.

The Square Hearts and Arrows diamond most striking feature is its brilliance or light return that is as good or better than most ideal cut rounds. While it is a square diamond its facet arrangements are like an ideal cut round diamond and has a light return pattern much like the round.

Both the incredible FireMark® Princess Cut diamond and the Square Hearts and Arrows diamonds returns light at a high percentage of 95% or better. The difference in the Square Hearts and Arrows and FireMark® Princess besides the small difference in shape is the number of facets. The FireMark® has more facets and its overall look is different even though both are square. The Square Hearts and Arrows diamond looks and reflects light just like a round ideal cut but in a square shape. The diamond also exhibits the H&A images hence its name.

The Diamond Photoscope is an essentially important tool that realistically defines visually light loss and light return in any diamond.  The following Diamond Photoscope report shows the excellent light return qualities of the Square Hearts and Arrows diamond. In the light leakage and light return picture where red is where light leaks and green is where light returns you will notice almost non existent red and only green showing. The report also shows it to have excellent brilliance, dispersion and scintillation. This is a typical report for these Square Hearts and Arrows diamonds.

There is also great news for price conscious consumers. The Square Hearts and Arrows diamond may have the brilliance and sparkle of a round ideal cut diamond but it does not cost as much as a comparable round diamond of the same weight and quality.

So there you have it, another great choice for people wanting a brilliant, absolutely gorgeous diamond in a unique shape. The Square Hearts and Arrows diamond is yours for the asking.
