HELP ME WITH RATINGS

You’re stoked that your best friend (BF) chose you to be her bridesmaid (BM), and better yet… her Maid of Honor (MOH)! Gasp!!! But what does this mean? You get to enjoy THE biggest day of her life right by her side. Get ready to talk in wedding slang and develop this crazy urge to buy every single bridal magazine whenever you make a run to Longs. In addition to standing right next to the bride during the wedding, you’ll now be taking on “Official Bridal Party Duties.”

Bridesmaids

  1. Bridesmaid’s Attire: What a girl does best… SHOP! Being a BM/MOH means just that. You’ll get to go with the bride to shop for your entire ensemble: the darling dress, stiletto shoes and adorable accessories. Plus, you’ll get glammed up with pro hair and makeup – upon the bride’s request. What a dream!

  2. Party-Planner & Hostess: You’ll have the opportunity to channel your inner Martha Stewart and plan, host and sponsor some killer pre-wedding bashes like a bridal shower and bachelorette party. Get creative, think of fun themes and play memorable games!

  3. Party Pants: Time to get your party pants on! There’ll be lots of pre-wedding shindigs, so clear your schedule so you can attend each event for the bride. From bridal showers to rehearsal dinner, you’ll be her shoulder to lean on. Make sure you carry to-go tissue for any tear jerking speeches or slap-your-knee-funny games.

  4. Support Group: Be your bestie’s stress reliever by showering her with lots of love and laughter to keep her sane. Answer every phone call, text and email from her as soon as you can. Hint: a TRUE bestie will ASK about the wedding planning… brides love gushing!

  5. On The Big Day: Be there for the beautiful bride by doing the following: 1. Be on time: in fact, be EARLY. 2. Give her your undivided attention: Learn to bustle her dress, carry her bouquet, make sure a water (and straw!) are always available for her. 3. Stay positive! No matter what happens, this is her DREAM day, don’t let anyone or anything stop that. (Read: Slight rain = a blessing!)

If you’re the MOH add these three things to your list of bridal fun:

  1. Speech: You’ll get to show off your writing skills, inner comedian, and amazing relationship with the bride through your MOH speech. The MOH speech is supposed to talk about the bride PRE-groom. What was she like growing up? And how did she change after meeting her Prince Charming? Tip: Say it from the heart.

  2. Wedding Gown Fittings: Attend as many of the bride’s dress fittings as possible! She’ll be so appreciative of all of the feedback you give… but no matter what, if she falls in love with a wedding dress that didn’t make your Top Ten, be supportive! Go back to Point #4 above! Tip: Ask the bridal gown consultant for a quick tutorial on how to bustle the bride’s train so you can help her out when she’s ready to hit the dance floor!

  3. Take Charge: You’re the leader on the wedding day. You’re in charge of making sure the bridesmaids and groomsmen are on time, dressed and on their very best behavior.

Then, when you’re relieved of all your official duties, you can RELAX and ENJOY your BF’s BIG DAY!
