HELP ME WITH RATINGS

It is time for my annual Geek Christmas Gift suggestions.  This is to help those of you out there with geeky loved ones, who don't have a clue on what to get them because the stuff they want seems to come from another planet.  I have tried to offer suggestions in a broad range of prices.

Cube Laser Virtual Keyboard

Cube Laser Virtual Keyboard - $169.99: Most smart phones or tablets don’t come with a good keyboard.  If you really need to type a long document, it is painful to do so without a real keyboard.  Here’s a keyboard which is projected on to a flat surface and allows you to type a document without having to carry around a bulky keyboard. (link)

Marshmallow Shooter

Marshmallow Shooter - $19.99: Geeks like to challenge each other, and eat too, so this is the best of both worlds. (link)

iPad 2

iPad2: starting from $499: I probably don’t need to list this, but with all the other choices for tablets, this is still the premium choice.  It is also one of the priciest. (link)

Macbook Pro

MacBook Pro: starting from $1,199: Another great choice but even more pricey that the iPad2.  I’m just including it in case your geek was a really good this year or you have lots of money to spend. (link)

Kindle Fire

Amazon Kindle Fire - $199: I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest this.  I have not seen this in person but from the reviews, it sounds like a good economic alternative to the iPad.  It is also smaller and lighter.  Checkout the reviews if your geek really wants a tablet and you don’t have an iPad budget. (link)

Sony Tablet S

Sony Tablet S, 16GB - Starting at $499.99: This is another iPad alternative which I have actually seen and played with a little.  It has a 9.4" screen, WiFi capability and has an Android OS.  Sorry that probably does not mean anything to you unless you are a geek.  It has a beautiful screen and is very easy to use.

Wireless Luggage Finder

Wireless Luggage Finder - $24.95: If your geek travels a lot and is always wondering where his/her bag is, this could be the solution to that problem. (link)

The Wizard's Wand Universal Remote

The Wizard’s Wand Universal Remote - $89.95: This a TV remote control which replaces the conventional TV remote control and is in the form of a wand.  This is just a neat device if your geek loves TV and is a Harry Potter fans as well. (link)

Hexbugs

Hexbug Nano robots - $59.95 for 5 pack: Do you have geek who likes toys or robots?  These are tiny programmable robots. (link)

ZAGGsoarq 2.0

ZAGGsoarq 2.0 - $99.99: With all the electronics devices that your geek is carrying around, he/she is bound to run out of power before getting back to a plug.  The ZAGGsoarq is one of the best portable battery rechargers.  It can recharge multiple units at the same time and has enough charge for them all. (link)

Powerline Powercup

PowerLine PowerCup - $26.99: Here is another solution to solve running out of battery power by recharging in your vehicle. It works with either USB devices (i.e. cell, tablets, headsets) or larger devices like laptops which need a regular AC outlet. The charger is housed in a coffee cup  that fits nicely in the vehicle’s cup holder. (link)

Germ Guardian UV-C Sanitizing Wand

Germ Guardian UV-C Sanitizing Wand - $102.53: Is your geek a clean freak or germaphobic?  Here is a way to kill 99.9% of the germs using light. (link)

If none of the above looks like something your geek would want, I would suggest you browse these website to see if anything catches your eye:

  • http://www.thinkgeek.com/ – There are all kinds of weird geekie stuff in this site.  Just choose anything in the price range you want to spend.  There is a good chance that anything you pick in this site is something your geek will like.

  • http://www.x-tremegeek.com/ – Similar to the last site, so the same reasons apply.

  • http://www.wirelessground.com/ – This is a great site for any type of case or accessories for electronic devices (i.e. cell, tablet, laptops).  No free shipping but the prices are much better than the cell phone company website or stores.

  • http://www.amazon.com/ – This is one of my favorite on-line sites to buy from.  If the item purchased is sent from the Amazon’s warehouse and your all your total purchase is $25 or more, shipping is free.  Just beware of some items are being shipped from another company and therefore do not qualify for free shipping.

  • http://www.apple.com/ – They just have elegant products but they are a bit pricey.

Happy Holidays!

Kiman
