Diane Ako is the director of public relations at Halekulani Corporation, which operates Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotel, both on the island of Oahu. In her spare time, Diane blogs for media outlets, including the state’s largest daily newspaper.

Previous to that, she was a journalist for 16 years, anchoring and reporting for four stations around the country- most recently at KHNL-TV in Honolulu. Her work earned her three Emmy-nominations: two in 2010 for news writing, and one in 2007 for a documentary. She has also filed reports from Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Denmark, and Canada.

Diane’s favorite hobbies are traveling and writing. In her free time (air quotes around “free”) she hopes to earn a black belt in martial arts in DanZan Ryu JuJitsu.

Diane is married to a fantastic Dane. They have one Labrador, one garden-variety cat, and a beautiful, precious, wonderful daughter named Olivia.
