Rick NakamaRick Nakama is from a family of local-style restaurant entrepreneurs. He spent much of his childhood at his family's local drive-in restaurant, Megs Drive In, on Waiakamilo Road. He has worked in the restaurant throughout his high school and college years. Rick has also worked in a few other food & restaurant related businesses to feed his passion for learning the specialty skills throughout the trade. His parents have since retired from the restaurant business and Megs Drive In is now owned and operated by one of Rick's uncles.

His interests also include high performance tuning of automobiles and racing. Rick attended Honolulu Community College and graduated with an Associate in Science Degree in Automotive Technology. He implemented this training and education to obtain his A.S.E. (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications and worked in the local import automotive tuning and racing industry as that industry was in its early years. The automotive tuning shop that Rick worked at specialized in custom turbocharger set ups and general fabrication. His mentors and the team that started the business were considered to be some of the most experienced in the field, boasting international training and work experience in the automobile racing industry. Ironically, Rick's interest and fascination with the web began at this shop where he first experienced the Internet via a dial-up modem in 1993. He has since followed the trends that the Internet has introduced to the community and always keeps up with the latest Internet and mobile technology trends.

In the past, Rick was active in Hawaii's SCCA auto racing events, participating in autocross races and other various track events held at the Hawaii Raceway Park. He continues to work on his project car, a 1993 Nissan 240sx a.k.a. S13 Silvia, in hopes a new raceway park opens on Oahu. His 240sx was the first in Hawaii to undergo the now popular conversion to the Japan model's 2.0 liter, turbocharged SR20DET engine.

Today, he provides services to family, friends and clients as they sell or shop for real estate. Rick has a real estate broker's license at East Oahu Realty, Inc. and holds the designations of Realtor, Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource, Seniors Real Estate Specialist, Graduate Realtor's Institute and is a member of the Hawaii International Real Estate Council. His primary area of expertise is in representing buyers and sellers of residential real estate in Hawaii. He also enjoys traveling and likes to blog about his experiences, mostly pertaining to food, cars and technology.
