Internet Explorer 5.0 Settings for Proxy Server

From Internet Explorer 5.0, go to the Tools Menu and select Internet Options.

Tools - Internet Option

Click on the Connection tab at the top. Under the Local Area Network section, click on the LAN Settings button.

In the LAN Settings window, place a check mark in the box next to  Use a proxy server, and click on the Advanced button as illustrated.

After you click on the Advanced button, you will see the window below. Next to the line "HTTP", type in proxy-server.hawaii.rr.com with the port being set at 8080, and repeat those settings for the line next to "Secure."

VERY IMPORTANT: Under the Exceptions section, type in ams-server.hawaii.rr.com (as of January 2000, this setting should now have a hawaii.rr.com suffix) and update-server.hawaii.rr.com in the box as illustrated. Click OK, and close all open windows. You are now using the Road Runner Proxy Server. You may need to add other exceptions to the Proxy Server as needed.

Do you use FrontPage 2000 to access Road Runner's Personal Home Page service? If so, you will need to add home.hawaii.rr.com to the exceptions window as well.

If you ever want to turn OFF the connection to the Road Runner proxy server, you simply need to go to the LAN Settings window (below) and UNCHECK the box next to the line Use a proxy server. All the Advanced settings will remain unaffected and you can turn on, or off, the proxy server connection using this check box as you choose.
