Road Runner Hawaii - User Account Options - User Management

User Management [Creating A Sub User]
When logged into User Account Options web site as the Master User, you can create up to four "Sub User" e-mail accounts. Again, the "Master User" is the unchangeable e-mail account name given to you by Oceanic (i.e. "alohaj001"). A "Sub User" is an e-mail account name that you can choose yourself.

In the following example, Joe Aloha was assigned the Master User name "alohaj001". Hence, his Master User e-mail address is alohaj001@hawaii.rr.com. Since Joe doesn't want to use that e-mail address, he can create a Sub User with an e-mail name of his choice. In the example that follows, Joe created a Sub User named "hulahoop", making his Sub User e-mail address, hulahoop@hawaii.rr.com.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY! Creating a Sub User e-mail address is a TWO STEP PROCESS:

1) Step one is covered on this web page. The procedure described below will create a new e-mail name on ROAD RUNNER'S MAIL SERVER.

2) Step two is where you need to step up YOUR COMPUTER to use the new e-mail name you set up here. In other words, after you setup your Sub User e-mail name on Road Runner's Mail Server, you need to setup YOUR e-mail program (like Outlook Express) to USE this new e-mail address. This procedure is covered in the Setting Up E-mail section.

To create a Sub User, Joe clicked on the Create button from the main User Management screen seen below.

User Management

From the Creating A Sub User screen, Joe entered his information (as illustrated below). Place check marks in the boxes next to Enable User, ACCT, BAS and ENH lines.

Creating A Sub User

The screen below is an example of what Joe received after clicking the Add button. In this case, the Sub User "hulahoop" was successfully created. Please be sure to CAREFULLY read the area next to the words, LAST ACTION. If for some reason the process of creating a Sub User failed, this area will tell you why (the user name is already taken, password and confirmation don't match, or the password entered wasn't at least 8 characters, etc.). If you receive one of these messages, you will need to go through these steps once more.

Creating A Sub User Results

Don't forget! In order for you to send and receive mail using this new Sub User e-mail account, you will need to setup your e-mail software first. Please see the E-mail Setup help files for more assistance.

NOTE: you must be logged in with your Master User Name  and password in order to use this feature (sub users are only authorized to change their own password and nothing else).

Can't login to User Account Options? Check to make sure you have the Proxy Server "exceptions" listed correctly (the exceptions were updated on 1/2000). Go to the Proxy Server section to see how.
