If you receive an automated message from overquota@socal.rr.com with the subject heading of "
You are Over Quota" and am wondering what it all means, this help article is for you!
The email message will say something similar to the following:Your e-mail storage quota has been exceeded. This quota includes all folders, not just your Inbox. Please save your e-mail to your PC and remove it from the server or new mail may not be received. This message is auto-generated, please do not reply. The mail server sends that warning when the volume of mail in the account on the server reaches 10MB. If you are receiving messages with large attachments especially pictures that have not been resized for emailing, you can easily reach that 10MB limit on a daily basis.
More than likely, the cause is a setting in your email client that keeps a copy of your messages on the server, even though you've read them. Just make sure your mail client is set to download the messages to your computer and delete them from the server. To do this, please refer to the applicable instructions below:
Windows:In Outlook Express click on Tools, Accounts, then double-click on your e-mail account. Then click on the Advanced tab, under Delivery, make sure it is not checked to "Leave a copy of messages on server". Then click Apply and OK and close the Account window. The next time you check for any e-mail the program will automatically delete the messages from the server after downloading any new messages.

Uncheck the "Leave a copy of messages on server" checkbox
MAC OS X:In MAC Mail, click the Mail menu at the top of the screen, then click on Preferences. Select the e-mail account and click Edit. Select the Advanced tab and make sure it is checked to delete messages from server after downloading.
