Pomai Souza got his passion for food from the advent of the Food Network, as well as local cooking shows, taking to local discussion boards on every subject about everything food from Hawaii and abroad.
To which he was encouraged by a school teacher to start his own food blog, launching The Tasty Island in 2006. The Tasty Island has since garnered a large following of regular readers and high traffic numbers, while also being featured in notable mass media, including The Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Star Bulletin and CNN.com’s Eatocracy blog. Most recently, Pomai has served as Food Judge at the “Up in Smoke” Cook-Off events for the past two years, sharing the table with some very notable people in Hawaii’s food & beverage industry.
When not blogging, Pomai’s day job is in advertising for a large retail company in Hawaii, where he works as a graphic artist, social media editor and interim webmaster. And when not working or blogging, Pomai enjoys running and swimming at the beach.
